I’ve been experimenting with retro-futurism in some of my design work and noticed something interesting.
The “future” imagined in different decades often reflects the mood of that time. The 1950s imagined a very optimistic technological future, while the 1980s leaned more toward darker, cyberpunk-style futures.
With AI, robotics, and sustainability becoming central topics today, I’m curious:
Where do people think the visual theme of “the future” is headed next?
Are we moving toward something more optimistic again (like solarpunk or clean tech futures), or something entirely different?
